BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING

The objectives of Building Information Modelling (BIM) are to help implement a collaborative project environment between all the members of a project throughout its life cycle, and provide coordinated project documents utilising 3D modelling and other features of BIM. Working with BIM will help improve coordination between systems involved in AEC projects, avoid clashes during execution in the field, and provide smooth construction processes.

• Better initial estimating: Less guessing and inaccuracies in estimating by using the 3D features of BIM for quantity take-offs

• Better coordination: Integration of major discipline's model early in the design process and clash detection help reduce in-situ coordination errors
• Better closeout documents: Migration from traditional closeout document to a 3D digital twin for improved building life cycle management
